Papirmass 109 features a photograph from the imaginative minds of Daniel Rueda and Anna Devís, titled Eggcellent. This photo is an excellent example of how Daniel and Anna playfully utilize their own bodies in their images.
Daniel and Anna are masters of taking advantage of the astonishing architecture that sparkles throughout their hometown of Valencia, Spain. By creating an unusual story using props, clothing, and themselves, they’re able to effortlessly play with scale, shape, and contrast to create truly surprising images.
We appreciate Daniel and Anna’s outlook on art and how it can connect people around the world. We’re so happy to connect our subscribers with their unique photographs and we hope they make you smile as much we think they will! Scroll down to see everything included in this month’s delivery!
This month’s edition is a classic example of how the simplest of images can be the most impactful. By using colour and a few props, Daniel and Anna brought big personality to something as small and unassuming as an egg! Several elements came together to create this image. Ruminate on the photograph and consider these three questions:
1. How does the figure complete the image?
2. If you could ask the artists a question, what would you ask?
3. What emotions do you feel when you looking at this image?
“The hardest challenge is to be yourself in a world where everyone is trying to make you be somebody else.” – E.E. Cummings
This quote reminds us to stay true to ourselves and resist the urge to follow in the footsteps of others. Discovering who you are as a person can be a challenge in itself, but pursuing other people’s opinions, values, or interests can lead you astray, unsatisfied, and craving more. Don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd and allow yourself to reveal the person you are deep inside.
E.E. Cummings was an American poet, essayist, and playwright. Known widely for his romantic poetry, Cummings often explored the relationship of the individual to the world around them.
