Let us do the heavy lifting: we’ll fill your home with art for a fraction of the cost of a single original artwork, and will make every month a special surprise.

We all know someone bursting with creativity, someone who loves art and culture. Let that person know you’ve noticed how original they are! A monthly art print delivery will not only brighten their life, it will also remind them, on a regular basis, of how much you care.

Our monthly creative assignment will give your lucky gift recipient the chance to flex their artistic muscles within a supportive creative community, found at #CreativeConnection.

Last but not least, we’ve got great Free Gift Cards.

A play on the Danish word for ‘pulp’, Papirmass is an ode to the paper we print on and our preferred place in the trenches of popular culture.

Papirmass has been artist-run from the start! Founded by Kirsten McCrea & JP King, an ambitious artist couple from Toronto, we believe that art is for everyone. When not working on Papirmass, we paint murals, write books, and run a small Risograph print and design studio. Collaboration is at the heart of our practice, and we love sharing art that inspires us.

We started Papirmass to share our passion for art and design with people around the world, sending the art that inspires us right to your door. Learn more about us and our many creative projects here.

Papirmass is available for the same price WORLDWIDE and shipping is FREE.
Just like a magazine, Papirmass ships once per month.

The deadline to join our next mailing is the LAST DAY of every month at midnight PST.
Orders placed after the deadline will receive their first print the following month.

We ship in the first week of the month, but please note that delivery times vary. Expect your print mid-month if you live in North America, and towards the end of the month Internationally.

Our art prints range in size to better fit all the nooks and crannies in your home.

Your privacy is critically important to us. At Papirmass we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We do not ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • All payments that are not cash or cheque are processed through a secure payment gateway, such as Paypal or Stripe. This means that we do not see or store your credit card information.
  • Subscribing to Papirmass is viewed as expressing an interest in us and our related activities. Subscribers are added to our online newsletter, which sends a monthly email containing links relevant to that month’s issue. We do not share our newsletter e-mail list with third parties. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of each newsletter.Read more about our Policies and Terms here.
Part of the excitement of Papirmass is knowing that you are part of a special art club and that only other members will get the same curated selection of contemporary culture as you. So, at this time, prints are for members only and cannot be purchased individually.

That being said: we do occasionally release prints from our archive for online Flash sales, and live at events. Subscribe to our mailing list to find out about these events. Or better, subscribe for the real thing, so you don’t find yourself missing out on another great piece of art!

All of our prints are made with love in Toronto, Canada. Risograph prints are printed in-house at our office in downtown Toronto, using soy-based inks on a range of new and vintage papers. Offset prints are produced on new archival paper at our nearby partner printer.

Each of our issues is laid out by the boutique design studio Paper Pusher.

There are many ways to display your prints! From traditional framing, to using clips to hold them on a wire, magnets to hold them to a metal surface, or push pins in the wall, displaying your prints need not be a daunting task.

While professional framers are always an option, framing work on your own is actually not that hard. You can find a great selection of affordable frames at secondhand stores, but larger department stores and art stores generally have a decent selection as well. Try to get a frame that already has a mat in it. If need be, a framer can cut you a custom mat for far less than it would cost to have them do the whole job. We are fans of the simple frame: either black, white, or birch, because those frames let the artwork do the talking, and go with most decor. You can buy acid-free tape at most art stores.

Here is a great tutorial on how to frame your own art.

The crease can be ironed out a folded print. It will not completely disappear, but passing an iron over it will greatly diminish its appearance. Framing it behind glass will also help diminish the look.

Ironing the crease out works best on uncoated paper. On coated, or glossy, paper, the iron may stick to the surface. Always place a piece of paper between your print and the iron, and iron on a flat surface with the art side down. Don’t let the iron linger for too long in once place: keep it moving as you pass it over the crease.

Here are some great step-by-step instructions on removing creases from paper.

Our top priority at Papirmass is offering a monthly creative surprise at an affordable cost.

Tube shipping is prohibitively expensive, to the point that using it would triple the cost of a subscription. Because our mandate is to make art accessible and affordable for everyone, this big price increase isn’t appealing to us, and we trust that it isn’t appealing to you, either.

As our format changes monthly, so too does the paper we print on. We use a mix of new and vintage papers. All new papers are archival and FSC and Rainforest-Alliance certified. Many have recycled content. Information about the paper stock used for each print is listed in our print archive.
Papirmass is our opportunity to share the creative talent that excites us with a wider audience! Both JP and Kirsten take enormous pleasure in hunting down hidden talent, so that we can bring our subscribers the best in contemporary culture.

Interested artists can also submit their work through our open call for Submissions, which receives hundreds of entries each year.

Yes, all of our artists are paid for the use of their work. As professional artists ourselves, we understand how hard it can be to hustle in today’s economy, and believe in paying everyone a fair rate for their work at all times.
